Edison Miranda back as a heavyweight

One of the biggest trash talkers outside of Mayorga, now a bloated heavyweight.

Former middleweight title challenger Edison Miranda returns to action today in a ten-round bout in San Antonio de Palmito, Colombia. Now competing in the heavyweight division, Miranda (36-10, 31 KOs) scaled in at a career-high 248 pounds. His opponent Carlouse Welch (17-2-1, 14 KOs) weighed 221.

What??? He had limited skill, no chin, but he could punch though. I highly doubt that power carries up to hw.

I guarantee Miranda will be a murderous puncher at 250 pounds.

I just have a feeling he won’t be able to hit anyone since he’s a total fat ass.

Not too surprised that he's a heavyweight. His last couple fights (2014) were at cruiserweight. He's only (lol) 50 pounds heavier than his heaviest weigh-in. Fellow Colombians Fulgencio Zuniga, Milton Nunez, and Epifanio Mendoza are also fighting at heavyweight these days. Going up to heavyweight is just what Colombian middleweights do, I guess. Oddly enough, they've all fought Welch, as he appears to be on some tour of Colombia padding his record.
