Has Tyson ever had a bad fight?

I was transferring some of my Ali fights the other day, and - though he's my favourite boxer of all tahms. Of all tahms! - I couldn't help but feel that some of his fights are a little, well... dull. I think the fact that fights went for fifteen rounds back then didn't help (less is more), but while he's got classics like the Rumble and the Thrilla, there are less well known ones that are a little tiresome, such as his first two with Norton, the two with Spinks and ("What's my name?" aside) the one with Terrell.

Yet I don't ever think I've seen a dull Tyson fight. The first one with Bruno gets a bit frustrating with all Bruno's holding, and the Lennox one was painfully one-sided (Mind you, adding Lennox to any fight is a recipe for dullness) but I don't think I've ever seen a real stinker from Tyson, win or lose. Anyone?

His fights with Tony Tucker and Mitch Green were pretty boring.

Yea, every fight since he fired Kevin Rooney has been bad. Even though he won some, he lost his traditional Cus Damato style.

Tyson vs. Bonecrusher Smith was a boring hugfest. The Mitch Green and Tillis fights were nothing to get excited about either.

Tyson vs. Lennox Lewis was not exciting at all but mostly because Tyson was way passed his prime. Still, Ali was pretty faded too in much of those boring fights.

I can think of a few of those Tyson fights that looked like impressive knockouts on paper (like the Jesse Fergusan fight) but were actually extremely dull or at least ordinary affairs full of guys clinching Tyson and Mike letting himslf be held, up until the point where he knocked them out.

I'm sorry but you never saw Frazier, Dempsey, or Marciano let guys clinch them like that. They always made them pay.

So I would say Tyson has had just as many ugly fights as Ali, and it's all because the guy dosen't know how to fight on the inside. I think many of Tyson's fights are very much symbolic of his career. Brief periods of incredible excitement followed by large gaps of time where Tyson allowed himself to be controlled.

The Bonecrusher Smith fight and the Tucker fights were his worst, also the Bruce Seldon non fight was a disgrace
