Comments Thread For: Kambosos: When Lomachenko Started Throwing Punches At Lopez, We All Saw What Happened

George Kambosos Jr. won't waste any time going after Teofimo Lopez on June 19. Kambosos promised that he'll approach Lopez much differently than how Vasiliy Lomachenko fought Lopez. A curiously cautious Lomachenko's low punch output in the first half of their lightweight title unification fight clearly cost the former champion on the scorecards.

Correction: WBC franchise is not a title, it's an exemption. Thus Lopez has 3 titles and he's not an undisputed champion. He needs to fight and defeat Devin first before he can call himself an undisputed champion.

          Haney the email “champion”
I don’t need the “rules” of boxing to tell me who’s the actual champion of a division.
lopez is the king of lightweight for example.

Boxing’s rules are a joke that can be broken at any point.

Haney didn’t even fight for a title mate. So stop with the lame “technicality” for a “sport” that doesn’t stick to its rules.
lopez is the lightweight champion. No debate.

Problem is, Lomachenko, the best boxer in the world at the time, wasn’t able to let his hands go until around the 10th. Let your hands go on Lopez at your own risk kamboso man.

Yeah, that 119-109 scorecard was crazy, way too wide. Julie, not as half accurate a judge as her dad Harold, whose scorecards could be debatable at times.

Kambosos, he's a big underdog, but he does see that maybe Lopez thinks he's better than he really is.

Lomachenko didn't beat the previous WBC champion to get his belt either. Mikey Garcia vacated it.

The point I’m trying to make is that the system of rules of boxing is flawed.
We as fans need to take note of who exactly is the best of the division. Sometimes it’s a close call and debatable and other times is crystal clear.

lomachenko was the division king pin, and lopez beat the man clearly.
Haney fought no one. Nothing to even debate. Tank Davis is fighting blown up featherweights and now targeting a completely different division.
so the question is, are we truely debating who the true (current) king of lightweight is?
Because we certainly cannot depend on the rules of boxing and it’s BS titles to make that claim

I mean, if Lomachenko can be considered the WBC champion after Mikey Garcia vacated it then why can't Haney after Lomachenko dropped it?

Teofimo has 3 of the belts but he is not the undisputed lightweight champion until he picks up the WBC belt.
