Styles make fights, and both of their styles were bad for each other.

Calzaghe also fought dirty too, don't act like joe was an angel. He low blowed several occasions (calzaghe even admitted to doing so as revenge for the knockdown) and he rabbit punched hopkins numerous times.

It was an ugly fight obviously, but to point out hopkins and say, oh he's the cheater while ignoring joe's fouls is simply wrong. It's boxing, it's a physical sport and both men chose to fight dirty that night.

His goal was to cut it in half, hence the clinching and slowing down the pace, after all the man was 43 years old and cant throw 100's of punches per round for 12 rounds.

It almost worked to perfection too, if only he were able to throw more punches himself in the later rounds to impress the judges.

Hopkins always has a game plan. Against Pavlik it was to take away his jab because he knows Pavlik needs to use his jab to set up his big shot. The same against tarver and the same against Trinidad.

And calzaghe fans really shouldnt be to proud about this win. Even calzaghe himself said it was his worst performance of his career, and there is a reason for that, and that reason obviously was bhop.

Hopkins doesn't give a **** about pleasing the fans, all he cares about is winning. He doesn't care if it's ugly, boring, nasty or whatever, he only wants that W at the end of the day. He nearly did it, and if calzaghe is as good as everyone says, then that's a hell of an accomplishment for a 43 year old man.
it wouldn't have mattered the judges were fixed and/or mentally defective. they gave clear hopkins rounds like 2 and 10 to calzaghe.

          Against a different fighter.

It's funny how people whine about Lennox Lewis not giving Vitali a rematch, but make no mention about Joe never giving Hopkins one.

Because the Joe vs Hopkins fight ****** thanks to Hopkins. I'm pretty sure HBO wouldn't pay for it and if it were to of gone to PPV, it would of tanked worse than the Pavlik fight.

No one watches Calzaghe. Did you know that Kessler vs Calzaghe had the lowest viewer number of 2007 on HBO of any free HBO fight? Thats lower than any WCB card featuring Ortiz, Angulo, or the other up and comers.

and it never got to that point cause calzaghe flat out refused after the lucky verdict he recieved. also calzaghe isn't exactly ratings gold in the united states.

Certainly not at this stage. Joe is too active for him. I give Hopkins huge credit for cutting Joes output, but he did use excessive clinching to achieve it.

No one watches Hopkins either. Who do you think carried his ass in PPVs?

Did you actually see the place in Kessler vs Calzaghe. Hopkins could only dream of pulling **** like that with him being the main attraction. You also have to think about the different time frame.
