Comments Thread For: Devin Haney Gets The Learning Experience He Needed - And Wanted - Against Linares

By Corey Erdman - As Devin Haney staggered back to his corner at the end of the tenth round after getting hit with a flush right hand by Jorge Linares, he was in need of guidance. For the vast majority of the first ten rounds, he had Linares all figured out, boxing a complete masterclass but for one brief moment. Haney had experienced many things in his young 25-fight career, but being visibly hurt by a dangerous puncher with six minutes left in a fight was not one of them.

Devin Haney lost. He only won because the refs and judges were in his back pocket. He spent rounds 9-12 hanging on for dear life. And it’s ok to low blow ref protected him. Russell Mora does not deserve to ref a fight ever. ****ing fraud of a fight

I thought he looked good until he got tagged, did what he had to do to get through it. Thought the scorecatds were too close. Good learning fight for him

Got to say tho, the ref was disgraceful in those last 2 rounds. Didn't even warn him for holding. Should have probably had a point taken off. It was as bad as akinwande vs Lewis

How the hell are we writing on and recognizing a “World Champion” that has an article titled as such? I mean cmon boxing orgs!? How TF are we granting a “World Title” to a fighter who’s 26 fights into his career, fought his first top 10 opponent (still question that) and whose greatest challenge came from a 35 yo fighter!?

          WTF is wrong with Boxing!!!??

Excellent article. Regarding specific instructions, I always noticed that not many cornermen do that. Emmanuel Steward did, and the young Davison does. Freddie Roach as well, although he maybe doesn't teach defence as well as offence.
