I don't think people really watch what goes on in the ring. For all this talk about pop/power. If you watch Teofimo fight, he has good power for the first few rounds, after that, when his muscles swell up with blood, his power decreases significantly. Haney is a boxer so he doesn't have to be super powerful, people said the same thing about FMJ for years but they both have just enough pop to make their opponents think before they try to bum rush in or walk them down.. Haney has KO'ed 15 out of 26 opponents so his power is still slightly above average...

In all fairness, Floyd exhibit more power throughout said weight-classes. Floyd power stopped at 147, though he buckled Oscar at 154 and Oscar has a solid chin. I think Floyd's issue was his brittle hands that was prone to injury. I think his hands restrict his power and also limit his offense. Later on, Floyd became more selective with his punches and mostly throw straight punches. Even the leaping left hook went missing from Floyd's arsenal as he moved up to 147. When i watched Haney, i notice it is mostly the inside of his gloves he's hitting with. He's not fully turning over his punches. I agree with you on not needing to be powerful, as Timothy Bradley wasn't all that powerful, yet he was able to stay at the top and be competitive.

i think some people don't read posts too well.
I already said he's good, but not going to reside permanently at the very top.
I know what you mean, but Floyd was utterly dominating people at the same stage, people didn't say anything of the sort during Mayweather Jr's run up to lightweight ; and he could really bring the fire to put a stop to things which Haney hasn't demonstrated so far. So Floyd really isn't a fair comparison. They're not comparable at all, and only in the loosest sense stylistically.
Haney has only just stepped up, and in my opinion he's going to do well be he isn't going to be able to run his game all the way. He'll most likely be overpowered somewhere along the line.
So from someone who has competed, trained and worked corners, that's just my opinion.
as always, I'm more than happy for fighters to surpass my expectations.Comment
