I could be wrong but the last notable under 200 lbs heavyweight was RJJ when he won the title weighing 193 lbs. Of course going back to the older days there were slews of under 200 lbs HWs.

Could we ever see another sub 200 lber have success at HW?

Well, that was back when Cruiserweight had a 190 pound limit, but Speed (both hand and foot speed) and IQ. Ring IQ is so vastly underrated, but you can beat guys just off of ring smarts. Holmes/Mercer comes to mind.

It would take someone built like Wilder but shorter ( to be sub 200 ) and more skilled and with almost the same punch. But it will never happen because that’s not how fights get sold. If you move up, you have to gain weight to sell it.

So pretty much Tommy Hearns on 21st century supplements.

Right, I’m sure Tommy came to mind for a lot of people or Julian Jackson. Course does sub 200 mean someone who can cut to that weight and then be allowed to rehydrate another 10-20lbs? Cause that really opens the door. Or are we talking someone who weighs 199lbs in the ring? I think Vitali would give any HW trouble. He only ever had to lean back to avoid a lot of punches, same with Fury. Hard task for a guy that is short. But I think there could be like a 6’2-6’4 guy who is a twisted piece of steel weighing 200lbs in ring that could hit hard enough and reach far enough in theory.

                    Be Chris Byrd. (6ft ~190)

if he can beat Vitali, he can beat pretty much all of these current heavies.

so, yeah. Be how he was pretty much.
