Kenny Bayless is clearly a corrupt referee. It can't all be down to incompetence. The posters on here who try to deny the obvious, are they mentally challenged or what? Do they have an agenda? Deluded? Bias? It is crazy to want to defend clear corruption, but yet they are here doing it... and it can't really be incompetence alone, when it happens over and over, in key moments of fights, oftentimes affecting the outcome of fights.

I had no dog in this fight, I like both fighters. But I was screaming at the tv when Taylor was breathing on Bayless after both kd’s. The second kd, he got so close to Bayless, even my clueless-about-boxing wife even pointed out and asked if Taylor can do that.

Taylor, being dumb or full of adrenaline, or both, decided to not go to the neutral corner in both kd’s. A ref isn’t supposed to count if the fighter is not in a neutral corner. Bayless did not catch this immediately. In the second one, he caught Taylor standing right behind him ready to go after Ramirez and stopped counting, per pro boxing rules, and told Taylor to back off.

So yeah, Taylor actually benefitted from Bayless not seeing him not go to the neutral corner.

”(6) When a boxer is knocked down, the referee shall direct the opponent to move to the farthest neutral corner of the ring. If the opponent leaves the neutral corner, the referee shall interrupt the count and will not resume the count until the opponent returns to the neutral corner.”

Bayless actually let Taylor slide both times.
After the first knockdown, Bayless was already done counting and was doing the 'come to me' test for Ramirez then 'forgot' (an almost 30 year veteran ref) to wipe the gloves off as Taylor dropped his guard and basically rolled his eyes. For the second knockdown, the mandatory 8 count was already given and Jose was up on his feet well before that and Taylor again only came in while Bayless performed the wellness test, waited patiently and was pushed back and let box again.

While I recall you being an objective, logical poster, I still disagree since your quote of the rules would only come into play if Bayless hadn't started/was still counting.

Also, I posted this after rewatching both knockdowns a couple of times since I was rooting for Taylor and the adrenaline at the time could have skewed my perception, but trying not to be biased, that's how it seemed to unfold to my eyes.

That first KD was a joke...Bayless reaches a count of 8 and has Ramirez wipe his gloves TWO TIMES...the hell??

As I said after the joke of a fight that was Ward v Kovalev, big time events should never take place in the US again.

On the first KD? Really? I was just watching it but I am pretty lit right now... It looked like he tried to wipe them off, then missed, or was caught up in all the action, then deliberately made a point to wipe them properly as Taylor dropped his hands and made a kind of "are you kidding me?" gesture.

The more I watch the more it seems like Bayless missed or was distracted for the first glove wipe attempt since Taylor was breathing down his neck and he was trying to deal with that. Giving a bit of credence to what Kev posted but not entirely?

Yes, Taylor definitely advanced and probably didn't do himself any favours but Bayless has 20+ years of experience....how does he miss wiping the gloves and how does the initial 8 count rquire almost another 10 seconds before the fight gets underway. He is dodgy as hell lol

                    Long count ?!?!?

If anything, he let the fight continue after dude was slow to respond to instructions.

I understand your frustration with the glove wiping, that was weird. But you should rewatch those knock downs. This isn’t about Bayless wiping gloves, it’s about Taylor putting his own possible KO in Jeopardy by not going to his neutral corner during the KD’s and instead choosing to breathe on top of Bayless.

I was not screaming at the tv because I was rooting for Ramirez. I was screaming at Taylor because I wanted him to get the KO to spite some posters who were talking crap about his skills and ability. Giving an unfair assessment of him.

So yeah, no bias here either. I actually wanted Taylor to get the KO there (but had no dog in the fight). Doesn’t matter though, he didn’t mess up the counts thanks to Bayless’ temporary incompetence.
