Were there ever any known discussions for a Pac vs. Canelo from back in the day?

Just curious as to whether there were ever any known past talks about a possible fight between the 2? Seems kind of odd that they never crossed paths.

Their was , Arum approached ODLH about it and he turned it down because Canelo was moving up to 154 (Canelo was at 147 till the end of 2010) so instead the fight with Mosley was made, Pac beat Mosley and GUESS WHO MOSLEY FOUGHT NEXT, Canelo...... IMO Oscar was Smart and protecting Canelo, that Nelo would of been schooled by 2010/2011 Pac.

Afaik There were never any discussions, only Roach saying yrs later that he thinks Pac would win.(unless someone can provide proof otherwise?) Pac at the time wasn't interested in fighting green canelo who wasn't a draw yet(he was 19-20)

            Yes.

            Pacquiao tried to catch-weight him.

Roach: Pacquiao-Canelo Needs Weight Cap, I Prefer Crawford Next
As of this past Saturday night, eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (58-6-2, 38KOs) is a retired fighter. In their third and likely final meeting, Pacquiao won a twelve round unanimous decision over Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Roach: Pacquiao Outboxes Canelo - But We Need a Weight Cap
Wynn, Las Vegas - Freddie Roach, trainer for eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (58-6-2, 38KOs), is very confident in his fighter's ability to outbox WBO junior middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (48-1-1, 34KOs).

Pacquiao Thinks Canelo Might Be a Step Too Far in Size

But Canelo was not having it.

Canelo Will Only Fight Pacquiao at 154, No Catch-Weight
Last week BoxingScene reported that Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz said Pacquiao is looking at Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez as a possible opponent next year provided they can come to an agreement on an acceptable catch weight. Pacquiao currently resides in the Welterweight division while Canelo campaigns 7 pounds north at Junior Middleweight. Pacquiao has made a venture into the Junior Middleweight division once before when he fought Antonio Margarito but the fight was contracted at a catch weight of 150 lbs. Manny also used a catch weight against Miguel Cotto back in 2009 and they plan to strike a similar deal with Alvarez in order to make the fight happen.

Pacquiao and his team flat out said Canelo was too big and he wouldn't fight above 147 again after Margarito made him **** blood.
