    Possibly my favourite domestic rivalry of all time, purely because how genuine it was. Two kids from the same city, same area and even the same gym.

    Wish there would have been a rematch when they both held world titles. Groves would have definitely won again though, he had DeGale’s number.

      Can’t believe that was 10 years ago . I was living about 10 minutes from the o2 at the time and got offered a ticket to the fight on the night and my phone was off all that night and missed the calls and texts as I’d left my charger somewhere.

      Watched it on telly anyway. I think Nathan Cleverly won his world title on the undercard, or he had been upgraded or something.

        Yeah he was meant to fight Braehmer who pulled out on fight week, then Bellew who couldn’t make weight, ended up fighting some Polish guy, Kuzemski or something.

        Great atmosphere that night, very pro Groves despite DeGale being the house fighter.
