Comments Thread For: Eddie Hearn: Joshua Buatsi Can Beat Dmitry Bivol; His Next Fight Must Be A Step Up

Eddie Hearn believes now more than ever that Joshua Buatsi can become a world champion. Buatsi's promoter also realizes it's time for Buatsi to start boxing better competition. Hearn expects the light heavyweight contender from London to return to the ring in July against the type of opponent who will prove that the 28-year-old Buatsi is ready to fight for a 175-pound championship.

Have Callum Smith move up to 175 to fight him? Is Smith healthy enough to fight yet? If not Smith, how about Meng Fanlong? Buatsi is IBF #3, Fanlong IBF # 1.

He looks like a small 175, like he can be a super middleweight.

Doesn’t Hearn promote Bivol? Am I incorrect in my conjecture? If so, what a total SCUMBAG...since when does a promoter say that one of his fighters can beat the other? My G-d, my G-d, this man just oozes douchebaggery

He can. He even challenged Canelo to a 168 fight. Outside of that though, no real point to moving down and dominating 168 when he's already been so dominant in a division he's small in

I wouldn’t write Bivol off like that.

maybe he’s had a few lacklustre performances due to inactivity and probably lack of fear of his opponents, but I think you will see a very different fighter when he’s fighting good opposition again. He has very solid wins. The likes of Smith, Pascal and Barrera were solid world level fighters and none of them barely won a round.

who has Buatsi beaten? He hasn’t even fought any of the top 175 guys from the UK yet, never mind world class fighters. His last opponent wasn’t even ranked in the world top 100. His fight before that was a struggle against a relatively unknown fighter.

He hasn't even had a few lacklustre performances lol. He's just been inactive.

When I watched Buatsi vs Ford I was blown away that Buatsi had gotten so much hype and praise.
