Was Chavez completely done when Oscar beat him?

In there first fight, I was only 10 years old and even though I watched it, I cant remember how good Chavez was right before this fight. Every person that I talk to says that Chavez was done and that he had been in too many wars. Its usually my country men that say this. Heres my question to you, was Chavez done by 1996 or would it have been the same story if he had fought DLH in his prime?

Chavez in his prime would have given De La Hoya a much tougher fight. De La Hoya has said Chavez made him see stars, but he was too slow to capitalize.

Nah, not totally done but he was way past his best and was done at the top level. He could still beat C level guys though so not totally done.

He was way past his prime, too slow to fight someone like Oscar at that time. But I don't think he was totally done.

I say totally done comparing him to the fighter that he was back in the late 80's. Agreed he could still beat C level type fighters at that point, but once he lost to Randall Bailey it was all down hill from there.

Yeah, he was a good fighter. JCC lost their first fight and should've lost the rematch IMO even after the point deduction.
