Comments Thread For: Wilder Won the Arbitration Battle, But He'll Lose the Trilogy War

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Just when you thought it was safe to get excited about a heavyweight fight... Back comes Deontay Wilder. According to Monday reports, a favorable - to Team Wilder, anyway - ruling from an arbitrator means WBC champ Tyson Fury must face his two-time foe in a trilogy bout by mid-September, surely scuttling a would-be August unification with Anthony Joshua that had been made official over the weekend.

The Gypsy-Bum has proven that he can not be trusted, why agree with a dishonorable coward with a history of failure to rematch as champion? Do you think that Anthony Joshua does not have his own rematch-clause? Tyson Phooey, needs to surrender the belt he stole, but its likely that Mauricio Sauliman will come in to save the fraud and decree Joshua vs. Fury for a WBC 'Franchise' championship. The HW division stinks.

Fights should be won/lost in the ring, not a court of law. Sad it had to come to this.

I don't understand why people are so angry that Fury has to honor a contract that he signed.

Relax Brits,Fury will make a deal with Wilder,or WBC will make Fury Franchise champ,or Fury drops the belt, because a guaranteed 75 million dollars is worth more than a trilogy with Wilder,so Gypsy King will break over 100 million to destroy AJ

When I see it. Joshua wants this 2 fight series with Fury. Fury wants the fights with Joshua. The promoters want the fight. The organizations want the fight. The fans want the fight. Saudi Arabia (read: Tons of deep pockets) want to host the first fight. There is very little interest in a Wilder trilogy.

There will be room for a compromise. Best case scenario: A nice round robin. Joshua/Fury fight as planned. Wilder gets the winner at the end of the year (barring any injury), and the loser of Joshua/Fury gets his mandatory rematch with the winner of that fight in early 2022. It is not like Wilder is unsellable. Something like this is profitable for everyone. At some point, Usyk may force a shot by getting a title stripped, but who cares? Everyone knows where the real HW battles will be, and I love me some Usyk. But he earned his shot in the CW division, these three in the HW division, They are the consensus top of the this generations crop. .

Cuz it's a fight no one wants to see

Hopefully he takes a payoff to skip it cause what would be the point of this trilogy
