Comments Thread For: Triller Exec: Dana White Blocked De La Hoya vs. St-Pierre PPV Fight

According to Triller co-founder Ryan Kavanaugh, a potential boxing match between Oscar De La Hoya and Georges St-Pierre was derailed by UFC President Dana White. De La Hoya, 48-years-old, has been retired since getting stopped by Manny Pacquiao in the fall of 2008.

So now they're hoping this public pressure will make Dana change his mind?

Lol. Dana doesn’t want people to know that MMA fighters can’t throw hands for candy. I was watching UFC 262 last night and my god the fighters can’t punch. Enjoyed it though. Oliviera is my dude.

Dana White is being greedy as hell. He feels like only he can earn big bucks. He probably has a higher yearly salary than any UFC fighter. And this PPV vs DLH would have earned St Pierre his biggest payday.

To add to that, it’s highly unlikely St Pierre will fight in UFC again. So he’s blocking the fight just out of malice/greed. He is blocking a guy who gave UFC 15 years if fights and he helped bring fans into the sport. This is the thanks he gets.

With that said, idc about this fight, i’m complaining about the principle of the subject.

Dana White isn’t a fighter and DLH was. This is White’s pride blocking such fights because he knows DLH was a real one. Nothing more

I don’t think it has anything to do with money at all. They both make good money, and DLH is a proven earner. This is more about their feud where one man actually proves combat talk by having fought, HOF, and current fighter. White is just salty he isn’t a fighter, thus blocking the fight. White can’t even win an ego battle with DLH because DLH is a Legend.

St Pierre was a great mma fighter, but he's not known as some great boxer, so who really wants to see this exhibition? I think Oscar and George would want it, for the money. Both had great careers, legends.

Boxing is my favorite sport. I also enjoy the MMA. In regards to this topic, I'm with Dana. Why should he always be putting his fighters at a disadvantage in the ring? Let Oscar and the rest of the boxers who want to challenge MMA fighters, fight in the octagon. They can still make good money. Let Oscar use his superior boxing skills against GSP's superior fighting skills. If you call yourself a fighter, you should be able to handle any combat situation.

How can that contract be legal? You'd think this was some third world country and not the land of the free. Amazing. Just amazing.
