Comments Thread For: David Benavidez: I Have The Skills To Hurt, Beat Canelo Alvarez In 18-Foot Ring

David Benavidez seemingly blew the opportunity of a lifetime away when he blew past weight last August by failing to make the 168-pound limit ahead of his stoppage win over Roamer Alexis Angulo. For his misfraction, the 24-year-old Benavidez (24-0, 21 KOs) was stripped of his WBC super middleweight title.

Benavidez has the athleticism and skills to give Canelo some problems, but he’s too full of openings. Ellis showed that in his last fight. Benavidez has the bully style which is the blueprint to beating Canelo. He can do good for the first half of the fight- only problem is that his poor defense will be his downfall. Canelo is going to time him with a wicked punch and put him out. If Gavril can drop Benavidez, then Canelo wis capable of doing much more.

Benavidez is easy to hit, and that's a bad thing if you face Canelo, who punches with bad intentions, and rips vicious body shots. David would give him a better fight, maybe, than Saunders. He does stand too upright sometimes, and doesn't always use his reach advantage.

This is the only PBC guy that I genuinely believe would take the Canelo fight if offered, the rest would clout chase and hide under Al Haymon’s skirt when the time comes, then talk about how they are already making “Money” like who gives a toss.

Like pretty much everyone else on here has said his lack of defense will make him an easy target for Canelo.

Indeed he does have skills but we will never find out. no way cowardnelo fights this guy because he's not old, slow and damaged goods .Lets not forget that clownelo wanted no part of the WBC 168 belt until Benavidez lost it on the scales.

Benavidez is the fight I wanna see Canelo in after Plant. I will say Plant on his best day can possibly beat Canelo the stars would have to aligned perfect for that to happen though. I think the Canelo vs Benavidez fight is 50-50 fight though.
