Caleb Plant is going to ask for $10,000,000 (because he’s smart) and the fight won’t happen.
With the one super middleweight champion out, Canelo will look to satisfy a mandatory instead of asking for an exception to fight any of the champions at 160 or 175.
He already satisfied his WBC mandatory in January. His potential WBA mandatories, Morell and Yerbossynuly, are not appealing matchups to the general public at all. While that organization might eventually force Canelo’s hand there, they haven’t yet.
So I predict Canelo decides to satisfy a WBO mandatory by fighting Parker. While it might seem like a lame fight, Parker will just happen to have all of Great Britain supporting him, buying PPVs and flying out to see the fight.
The Canelo vs. Great Britain formula works too well and he’ll go back to it when Plant is off the table.
