Mike Tyson through age 21>any boxer in history and any boxer that will ever come

Before turning 22 Mike was the undisputed Heavyweight champion of the world with a record of 35-0. Can any boxer ever achieve what Mike did at such an age?

Would have to agree. Plus this was when the heavyweight champion was one of the most recognizable people in the world. Just doesn’t have the same cache now.
Hard to fathom how big Tyson was before he lost to Douglas and went to jail. Especially before the internet and social media. You couldn’t talk 80’s to 90’s sports period without Tyson.

Edit: Ignore the second part- misread and thought you were saying Mike would beat any other fighter in history at 22- my bad.

FTR, I think it’ll be very difficult for any fighter to achieve what Mike did at the age of 22. Especially considering how fragmented the belts can be in this era.

Nah Mike was a mental midget. Ali would have destroyed him before they even got in the ring. There’s a lot of HW’s I’d pick to beat a prime Mike tbh, I think Teddy Atlas makes a fair point when he says Mike couldn’t handle it when somebody gave it back to him. I do not believe Mike was mentally tough enough to hang with an Ali, Louis, Foreman, Holyfield etc.

Mike is one of the most interesting and exciting fighters ever and one of the top two stars the sport has ever produced but as for greatest heavyweight of all time, he’s not even in the conversation.

He might not be the greatest HW ever but to answer the OP, nobody will better what he did by the age of 21. To be undisputed HW champion at 21 is unprecedented. To win a HW title at 20 years old is unprecedented.

I'll bet good money that those 2 achievements are never equaled.

That was the 3 belt era though, its easier to unify 3 belts than 4. But of course its still insanely impressive (although that exact moment didn't have many elite comp)

the Holmes that fought Norton and Shavers probably could've beaten him. Reason being is that James Tillis who fought Tyson in a close contest made it a very competitive fight using a ton of lateral movement. Prime Holmes not only had even better lateral movement than Holmes but also an amazing jab.

I know some people will say Holmes wasn't that far removed from his prime when Tyson beat him BUT they forget to mention that Holmes was not only inactive but rusty also

Teo was 22 when he basically became undisputed(depends whether you count WBC franchise belt)
