Actually it's a combination of both. He'll use his jab to time and counter Pac, so countering Pac is going to play and important part in Cotto beating Pac.

exactly.its not that he's not as a good a counter puncher as marquez, its that he's a heavier hitter.manny barely drew/won fight those fights WITH a couple knock downs.

erik would tear his ass up.

barrera is younger than marquez so i think the outcome would be similar

with erik, not sure how their style would mesh

still think that marquez is the most technical and skilled boxer from mexico ever...

That's because Marquez is such a good counter puncher he was able to win rounds by making Manny look bad. Cotto isn't that good a counter puncher. He will have to use his jab to keep Manny off balance, if he thinks he can do what Marquez did he will lose. Manny will be able to pile up rounds easier against Cotto.

cosign again. why is it so hard for people to understand that cotto is not as good as marquez in terms of counter punching?

look... pac is hittable because he's an offensive-minded fighter. if cotto lands enough bombs pac will go down. all cotto has to do is close his eyes and throw when pac throws. even that unskilled brawler hatton was able to land a few punches on pac.

To me atleast, Cotto has never been and will never be such a counter puncher like JMM, and he won't be able to do that with such effectiveness against Pac like JMM did. I agree with most people here, he would be able to use the jab a lot more effectively than just countering alone.

what part him not having to be as good a counter puncher do you not understand?this isn't about who's better, this is about him having to do it.

I'm done.cause clearly you dudes are autistic.
