You're out your damn mind if you don't think Oscar had nothing to do with it. Oscar was part of the biggest non Heavyweight ppv with Tito, plus all the other high selling ppvs, and all that was done without 24/7 and social media.

Put in a Pacquiao or McGregor level (popular) opponent with Canelo in a year or two, and he'll shatter the record.

even still floyd doesnt have a built in fanbase that canelo and the mexican fighters do....and floyd had as much to do with canelo becoming a star as canelo did....the schaeffer/haymon working relationship really helped launch canelo
