Report: Saunders career in jeopardy due to injury, may never box again

    Very sad to hear.
The injury Billy Joe Saunders suffered during Saturday night's loss to Canelo Alvarez was even worse than it looked ... and it's possible he may never fight again.

Never been a fan of Billy Joe's chitty character, but damn that is a rough way to go out. Anybody wishing harm on Boxers, or celebrating injuries like this need to take a long look at themselves. Getting a kick out of someone sustaining serious physical damage... like it makes your day better. Sickening.

I just hope for his sake that he recovers and his day by day activities become normal. Rough to loose some of your health that can hamper you the rest of your life.

As said before such an injury requires particular facial reconstruction. This is minor compared with car accidents before the advent of safety bags where people would COMMONLY smash their orbital bones on steering wheels. But since we’re contextualizing future fights, he may never fight again. His bone was smashed more than fractured. It complicates things because he requires screws anyways, and it’s hard to screw into pulverized bone, so normally they have to wait for the bone to fuse back naturally to harden and then redo surgery. Facial reconstruction is complicated. It’s a lot easier when there’s mild cracked fractures. A rising full force uppercut moving into something already in its direction would have a crazy impact

I'm not sure now whether the punch that did the most damage
was intended to land on the body.

That ducking low defense, similar to Andrade and others,
certainly worked against the intended purpose.
                It even aided the opponent.

The leverage canelo got with that shot was ridiculous.
