Kinda hard to tell if it's a cig or a joint honestly. I know it's not important but I am kind of curious for some odd reason. Where is this? That would probably have an effect on whether he's smoking weed in public or not (not even sure you can do that here in most places despite being legal across Canada... weird laws)

Smoking anything isn't good for you but at least you can't overdose and die on cannabis like nicotine. You can't make a pesticide out of THC to kill living things and so on. You're not entirely wrong either but there is a distinction to be made. Maybe I'm a little bias since I am heavily involved with the plant but at the same time, I don't think it cures cancer or any other bull**** you see these stoner bro scientists trying to claim.

Would be pretty hard/impossible from smoking it I'd imagine but if you ate it or soaked it in something yeah it will likely poison you / kill you. Not that anyone would really do that but just illustrating how toxic of a plant it is compared to hemp/cannabis which has many other non-drug uses like fibre for rope or fabric and various oils extracted so on.
