BJS is thick as two planks. First, his retort has all the wit of Pee Wee Herman, coming hot on the heels of Canelo saying most British fans don't like him. Second, even if it were true, I don't think the ones that don't like Canelo are the ones who've shelled out to go see him box.

Fortunately or unfortunately, Alvarez's 1/2 will show up and scream every time he gets a lick in. Gonna be uphill for BJS with that crowd. I hope we see 12 rounds of good boxing and a fair decision. If it comes to a KO...probably gonna be the puncher Alvarez winning. I've seen so many unfair decisions. Alvarez among them. Wow! 70K plus crowd. Like the good old days. Let's go!

Im sure Canelo has great popularity, although it's doubtful he has the kind of fanfare that accompanied Chavez. Barrera, Marquez and Morales were wildly popular as well.

Anyway, it's not really relevant to the fight, although with judges it can be. If the crowd cheers even when punches land on the opponent's gloves, the judges can be influenced. Tough to get a decision against Canelo, but he is one of the best in the sport.

Mexican Americans seem to love Canelo but the Mexican proper seem luke warm on him but that shouldn’t be surprising given the nationalism of those who come to the USA in regards to where their parents and grandparents came from

I was surprised to learn this myself. I used to date a girl who had family in Mexico and we would go down there a lot including local boxing matches. I was watching a couple American prospects who I liked and the crowd was VERY supportive. But even more interesting to me was most of the fans I talked too really didn't like Canelo Alvarez at all. Mostly said the same thing as all of us, avoids a certain style of fighter, talks a lot of trash that he can't back up, but what really got them angry was how he vacated his belt not to fight Glolovkin, how Canelo thought he was god to think he was above the sport and could fight GGG whenever he felt like it, then waited for the first sign of weakness to fight him after GGG got exposed by Brook and Jacobs, gets a gift from the judges, fails a drug test, and gets another gift in the next fight. The fans down there did not appreciate this. I admire them so much for not being biased and getting their emotions get in the way of FACTS.
