Fair enough Monty! - that is why I'm hyped, either boxing gets a shake up or Canelo answers the doubters, as the face of sport that's awesome. And he has a plan to continue the unification. Plenty of others waiting for their guy to get a shot too - I'm just looking around and I think Saunders is the real challenge.. Always wanted to see this fight
I didn't want to write too much , it's crude analysis: ...it isn't so much the literal height but that he will be bigger than the other guys who people compare to this fight...not the lazerbeams lefts of Lara.....but a more developed right hand/hook/uppercut than the southpaws he's fought. If Lara had a right hook to follow-up his 1-2 he probably would won that fight outright and still be on top. ...Smith and Kovalev are very upright which fits into how Canelo has been fighting of late.....Saunders bringing a different skill set, different fluidity while also being bigger/longer in his stance. The pace of those fights was very pedestrian -all at Canelo's pace, and still... a draw on one card vs Kov and only up 2 on the others. Kovalev who literally came off a 35 min nap. A Kov who many of his fans feel was only throwing a flicking jab.
Canelo absolutely looks better at these higher weights but he has yet to be tested with any real pace. It's a combination of what BJS brings vs previous similar Canelo opposition and how Canelo fights play out on the cards in his career....in addition to the inherent limitations of his style
