Problem is he isn’t a ticket seller. Ritson sells a lot of tickets and headlines in Newcastle. Tennyson had some northern Irish fans.

He’s probably hard to match because he brings no money to the table and is a good fighter on his night. So no good fighters coming through will fancy fighting him, there’s easier fights at that fringe level. Then the guys just above or around him don’t fancy it because there’s no reward and risky, like the Smith fight. He only got that as a mandatory.

Didn’t he whoop a Golden Boy prospect? Think it was on the Canelo v Jacobs undercard.
Yeah he stopped that undefeated New Zealand kid Akaawy or something.

It really baffles me why Sky/Matchroom don’t get behind him, with the right matchmaking Ryder could win a world title IMO. He has a fan friendly style too and could be marketed to the casuals as an action fighter. I completely get he ain’t gonna shift you thousands of tickets but surely he’s a guy they can put on PPV undercards and get better opportunities.

I’ll use Tennysson again as an example as they both fought on the Smith-Ryder card. Since then Tennysson has had three fights on Sky and been hyped up as a killer by stooges like Nelson, whilst Ryder has had no promotion and has only had one fight against a 12-5 guy on the GGG undercard.

      Totally agree

Plus he actually built up some good public backing after that Smith fight which many felt he won. They should’ve tried to kick in with him from there.

He clearly got robbed again Fielding too, I didn’t even think it was close.

he’s a good fighter, underrated. I think he fights better with better oppositions. I don’t know how he has losses to Arnfield and Blackwell, he’s much better than they were in general. Maybe lack of motivation due to never getting pushed and overlooking them.

Yeah the Blackwell loss is a real strange one considering he got stopped and Blackwell wasn’t exactly a big puncher. I think making 160 might have been taking a lot out of him.
