BRASILIA - Un turista italiano fue arrestado hoy en una playa del noreste de Brasil luego de que besó a su hija de ocho años en la boca, informó la secretaría de seguridad pública del estado de Ceará.

“El señor (italiano) fue detenido, el caso está en manos de la delegación de protección de niños y adolescentes”, dijo a la AP un portavoz de la secretaría de seguridad. La fuente no se identificó por política de la institución.

El hecho ocurrió en la ciudad de Fortaleza, capital de Ceará, cuando el italiano de 40 años, cuyo nombre no fue revelado, besó a su hija y fue denunciado a la policía por una pareja de turistas brasileños que observó el hecho.

Los visitantes brasileños inicialmente increparon al europeo y, después de discutir con él, resolvieron llamar a la Policía.

La fuente de la secretaría de seguridad pública dijo que las autoridades detuvieron al europeo por considerar que su actitud podría constituir una infracción a la nueva ley de estupro, que entró en vigor en agosto en Brasil con rigurosas sanciones contra el abuso de menores. No quedó claro cuánto tiempo permanecería detenido el turista.

La madre de la niña, una brasileña, defendió al italiano ante las autoridades al afirmar que en Italia es común que un padre bese a su hija en la boca.
