Ray Leonard once commented that he believed Hector Camacho Sr. would be his successor to the P4P throne. Did you feel similarly at the time?

Ray was the man and the best boxer I've seen. Michael Nunn was the Paul Williams of boxing at the time. He was much better though. But that KO Toney gave him was a classic.

Camacho in 83' and 84' was a THOROUGBRED, yea...he was looking like the future, yea...people see him later on at 147 and 154 and think they were watching HECTOR CAMACHO...but, no, they were not...

How do you see fights with Camacho vs Pryor, Floyd, and Whitaker going at 135-140

I would say to be fair that 130 and maybe 135 was his best weights...at 130 against Pea or Floyd, Macho would be right there...he had the speed, the moves, the INTELLIGENCE...he had the attitude...many will disagree because they have visions of later fight still intheir heads but on his best day Camacho was a match for anyone his weight...

Nunn isnt wearing any headgear whereas his opponent is , am i right in saying you had a choice back then ? The amateurs have really changed in recent years , they used to be like pro's fighting in vests , and ive seen some great novice bouts , but now amateur fighters are are more accustomed to the computerised points system . The gap to the pros has been widening and amateur accomplishments are not always a good measure for success in the pros nowadays.

I was rewatching his fight with Jose Luis Ramirez this morning and was awestruck by just how sharp he was. The man could flat out fight and had the skills and speed to be a nightmare for anyone. It's a shame he couldn't keep it together, he just had that mentality of another ****** dude from NY.
