Billy Joe's people said they wanted a 24-foot ring. From one extreme to the other. Billy Joe had given ground on many other sticking points, but on this one, he has been adamant he won't shift. When fight week comes, Eddie Hearn informs Billy, through MTK, that the ring will be an 18-foot ring. Billy Joe's team kicks up a fuss, and Canelo's team says, "Okay, okay, we will allow you to have a 20ft ring!" Like Billy Joe should celebrate that Canelo allowed the ring to be 2ft bigger than he wanted, still, 4ft smaller than Billy Joe wanted. This isn't even about the size of the ring anymore, it's the principle of the matter. Billy Joe and his team have given in to countless demands from Canelo, given up advantages to make the fight. And why should they keep giving? A bigger ring is an advantage to Billy, and he is right to not give in to any more demands this close to a fight. Why even ask Team Saunders what size ring they wanted, if they were just gonna go with Canelo's demand from the off? Even a 22 ft ring is a moral victory for Billy Joe at this point. A lot of idiots in this industry, people who are on the gravy train, it makes perfect sense for people to give in to all demands and just play a part in the Canelo show. But it is beyond insane to see people who call themselves Boxing fans who fanboy for this unfair BS. "A-side doe!", "Accept Canelo's demands doe!", "Ducking if won't give Canelo every advantage doe!" Sycophants.
BJS has given in to "countless demands" from Canelo? Are they really "countless?" Maybe you could list just the first five or six? This guy and his dad are shook to hell. If he screws up this fight over what is a standard size ring, his career is OVER. Which guy is the diva?

if everything was fair canelo would have losses to lara, ggg twice, a full UD not MD against floyd, draw against trout, shunned from the sport over his failed drug tests, etc. etc

canelos career has been on easy mode because he has the promoters and WBC in his pocket since he fought matthew hatton.

Here’s the history of canelo, created his own 155 catch weights class and even had a fight at 163.5 pounds, has had multiple fights where he added rehydration clauses, gives opponents short notice, has been caught taking banned substances, gets favorable treatment from judges and is having this fight held in the notoriously corrupt Texas where he’s received favorable treatment in the last. Now the ring size. He’ll do anything possible to put his opponents at a disadvantage and just assumes that everyone needs to bend to his will and kiss his ass.

This is the opportunity of a lifetime and it would be foolish to throw it away over a bit of extra real estate in the ring.
Good point, but you assume that Saunders understands that being foolish is not a good thing. I think that he, his old man, and the rest of his team live in the land of foolishness.

...unlike Floyd of course who made sure that his opponents had every possible advantage...and so on.

Negotiating ring size shouldn't even be a thing. There should be a standard, mandated size and that's it.
