After watching the fight with Arreola there is no doubt that the weight gain Ruiz has experienced between his fights is his toughest opponent. People thought because he only had five weeks to prepare for the first Joshua fight that he would be even better in the rematch. The fact is that he was already in good shape for the Dimitrenko fight and did not need to put his energy into losing weight and used that gym time to sharpen his boxing skills. The result was that he boxed AJ well even before the knockdown in the third round.
After watching the Arreola fight he looked like a over trained, stale fighter. Ruiz needs to stay in the gym and keep his weight down between fights. If he does that he can be competitive with any heavyweight out there. I am sure that the Reynoso team and he know that. Andy needs to be in the gym on Monday. Some fighters can take time off, but Ruiz has to realize that he is not one of those fighters.
