Yeah I expected it to be about 3-4 fights in to see the tru work they are trying to achieve with Ruiz. Very rarely does switching to a new trainer pay off immediately.

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Fury.

And i bet Wilder to beat him for that very reason...
    I was wrong.

People think I was trolling about Haymon dedicating his boxing to Mexican cards, lol. This is exactly what any boxing fan wants to watch. The whole card was the defacto action most fans cry for.

He honestly looked overtrained to me, keeping him in the gym def a good idea - but they have to make sure he is peaking around fight time. He looked like he left his best in the gym and punch resistance was revealing as well. I think you're right, I expect him to look better

Ruiz after being trained under the Reynosos seems to have a similar problem that Canelo has, he has trouble dealing with a committed jab(he seemed lost whenever Arreola threw it). Other than that, he looked good in there

Canelo has trouble dealing with a committed jab? The only jab EXPERT that challenged and kept his offense at bay was P4P top dogs like GGG that has an extraordinary power jab. You mean Canelo is “lost?” With who

I agree outside of 2 rounds he dominated , new trainer plus first fight after a long layoff .Hand speed was phenomenal and will cause problems for any HW he will only get better going forward.

Canelo's offense gets neutralized a bit when dealing with it, albeit it briefly compared to other punches which he deals with no problem. In that he looks a bit confused/baffled/hesitant. Most boxers who try to jab Canelo tend to not commit to it because of the fear of his counter or that they aren't that good at using it altogether. But in the Floyd, GGG and kovalev fights, whenever they threw out the jab with actual intentions....its halted him. Even Callum Smith, as much as he got dominated, whenever he did commit his jab...Canelo looked uncomfortable compared to whenever Callum landed hooks or other power punches

he almost got stopped by frickin areola. ruiz is a one hit wonder and reynoso is an overrated drug peddler. FACT. only reason he survived is because areola mentally gave up after the first few rounds like he always does.

It takes time for any fighter to adjust to a new trainer.

I thought Chisora flashed some good things from Buddy McGirt yesterday but still needs more work.

That's just the way it is, there are no shortcuts.
