Manny Pacquiao vs Chatchai Sasakul

This vid brings back memories.
This fight in particular was the first time I've ever seen PAC fight. I was actually on vacation in Asia. Good times.
my dad's driver and Granpa in the Philippines had mentioned PAC to me. Prior to actually seeing PAC fight, the way they described PAC was like a mini-Tyson.
And I remember thinking to myself, "no way he's that good". So, that weekend finally came and as I was watching this fight, I was like, this kid is garbage, he's nothing but a wild-swinging energizer bunny and Sasakul was basically potshottin' his @ss.
Then came the 7-8th round and PAC's left finally starts to find its mark and next thing ya know, PAC's left just came out of nowhere and the Thai legend is no more.
After the fight, my gramps asked me, if I was a believer now. And I responded by saying, I'm not convinced, he has too many holes and if he were to step up to Mexico's elite, he'd get killed. Boy, was I ever wrong.
Another thing too, my cousin who also boxed, and was also vacationing in Manila, saw the fight as well from his hotel room. So, that night we met up and while we were in a taxicab on our way to hit up the clubs, we were talkin' about the PAC fight and he pretty much had the same opinion of PAC as I did. He pretty much had the same impression as I did that if PAC were to face someone MAB's talent/skill level that he'd get taken apart.
D*mN, JUST D*MN, time flies, I still can't believe it sometimes. That was 1997-98 and it's now 2009. He has single-handedly brought down the Mexican boxing empire and is now gunning for Puerto Rico.
If in 1998 someone had told me that PAC was gonna accomplish all that he has in boxing, I would just f**Kin' laugh and look at that person like he was the d*mbest guy on earth.Last edited by We want Floyd; 08-30-2009, 06:26 PM.
