It's a plausible theory Floyd ducked the Oscar rematch because he knew Oscar played soft in the first fight and was going to fight for real in the rematch. Only logical explanation for Floyd to duck the big money rematch with Oscar. https://ringobserver.com/compelling-...-a-fake-fight/
Serious question. Why didn't Floyd rematch Oscar? It's the only thing that bothers me about his career.

It's best it didn't happen. Remember the rematch was set for 147.First of all, a long and excellent career. Fighers could only dream of having even half of such a decorative and accomplished career as Floyd did.
With that being said.... Now that he is long retired, there is one thing that has always been gnawing at the back of my mind.
Why was there never a Oscar rematch? He had no problem rematching Castillo and Maidana when he was nearly 38 years old, so why no rematch with Oscar?
I could understand if he was up there in age when they fought, but he was a young man in his prime when they fought, so what gives?
The fight was close. I mean really close. I just think that fight needed to be settled once and for all with no doubts at all just like castillo and maidana.
That's the only thing that bothers me about Mayweathers career........................
floyd would have been ridiculed for destroying the zombie that was oscar at 147. They would have said floyd drained him down in weight.
Stevie Forbes almost beat him at 150 in his tune up.
Any welterweight in the world was beating oscar that night at 147 after 7 years of fighting north of 147. Pacquiao should be thankfulComment

Oscar could barely walk at 147. He came in 146 on fight night against Pacquiao. Oscar was doomed against anybody at 147. Floyd or Margarito or cotto would have all gave him that same beating at 147. He was drained.
154 it's a fight. 147 at that age, oscar would get slaughtered.
Of course im talking in HindsightComment

Burton was getting the crap beat out of him but he just kept coming. He also was landing at a higher rate on Floyd than most opponents but was still getting outlanded
Didn't win much of any rounds but made Floyd work very hard so it was a hard and uncomfortable fight for Floyd
Good chin and real weird style. Constantly changing angles and rhythmComment

I don't buy that. Oscar was super rich and did not have the drive and discipline to get down to 147 anymore, his soft body showed it.
