Well deserved, Vergil has fought steadily better competition with each fight. Happy to see three of the four major organizations recognize that. Not to mention the kid is quickly developing one of the best fan bases for a young fighter as shown by his last fight w/t Hooker. It’s getting a lot harder for some of these champs to ignore this young lion and the future face of boxing.

You don't have to activate the mandatory though, that's only the case if the WBO doesn't order the fighters to begin negotiations & if the champ is outright avoiding the fight(most the time the org orders negotiations to begin if not already started,then they give a deadline,then purse bid without fighters petitioning anything).(we know there have been negotiations & we know that Bud has to make a mando defense next be it v Porter or Ortiz,we can't possibly know which one because Arum/Bud are the worst bs'ers who drag feet more than anyone)

This is very very interesting. So how does this work... does Porter submit for demotion? If the scheme was that the WBO were duped to not enforce a mando, then whats the catch? Can the WBO order Ortiz vs Porter for what position? Lol. I guess Haymon wasn’t confident to win a purse bid against ESPN which would mean Porter takes less?

Shawn Porter was the WBO number one contender for nine months.

According to WBO bylaws, it’s up to Shawn Porter to write a formal request to be activated as the mandatory challenger.

He didn’t write the request. In nine months time.

Therefore, he purposefully gave up his status as mandatory challenger to Terence Crawford. If he didn’t do this, Crawford would be forced to fight him or vacate.

I’m sorry your narrative of Crawford avoiding top welterweights has been completely disproven.
