    Whats next for Gomez?

What is happening with Juan Carlos Gomez? Has he retired or just taking a layoff? It would be shame if he retired, coz he is an excellent boxer.

he is a really slick boxer..just doesnt have much pop to his punches..i think he is and was past it when he fought vitali..if he doesnt retire hes probably just going to be fighting journeyman (guinn, krasniqi, timor ibragimov)

He did drop the hard punching and tough chinned Vladimir Virchis and beat him clearly. And he has 35 KO on his record.

true..but he is more of a "slapper" than a straight puncher..he is a very good boxer, most cubans are..virchis and a way past prime mccall are his best wins at heavyweight. i think he beats most in the top 20 but none in the top ten except for maybe povetkin, because povetkin is somewhat one dimensional in my opinion for an olympic gold medalist

I don't know boxing sucks, if you lose a fight, even though you"re a top dog, they wont give you another opportunity. If you're a joke and know the right people like Don King, you'll get a lot of undeserved opportunities.

I was really disappointed by his perf against Vitali, i thought he would at least lose a decision. I still believe he could be a big layer in the HW division, dude has talent. Too bad he left CW, he was a great fighter.
If he remotivates himself, work with a better trainer, he'll be a top 5. He's as good as Eddie Chambers skillwise.
