Sky Sports needs to go back to being an open platform.

Older fans will remember back in the day you had Warren, Maloney, Hatton, Barry Hearn and even Denis Hobson all promoting cards on Sky, and personally I thought it was great.

It removes the inherent bias that having one singular promoter creates, it gives fans far more options, and creates better working relationships between domestic promoters.

Matchroom are now gone and Frank is signed to BT but there are various UK outfits to fill the void.

MTK has a massive stable and are already putting out very good content on YouTube. Sauerland have just relocated to the UK so they could also be an option. If AJ decides to stick with Sky, he could promote shows as well, he already manages several fighters. You’ve also got guys like Hobson, Wood and Hennessy who with the right backing could put good cards on too.

UK needs better boxing talent first and foremost. I'm high on some of these guys on the 2020 (I guess 2021) Olympic class but right now the talent just isn't there. Like having a open platform wouldn't be a bad idea at all but Warren is locked into BT Sports and Hearn is locked into DAZN so is there even enough talent elsewhere to put on good shows on Sky? Right now the talent in the UK minus the HW division is pretty dire.

All that's left is MTK and Sauerland

I just think they need to go back to basics. Put on competitive matchups at either European, British or even English title level. It’s not like the Matchroom non-PPV shows were anywhere near World level fights anyway, fights like Cheeseman vs Eggington were headlining shows for example. As long as the matchups are competitive, people will tune in.

Do Sauerland have any British guys besides Eubank Jr? They’re gonna have to sign a few guys ASAP.

            I don't think so.
