    Jones v.s. Hopkins&Toney what Happened?

I was big into boxing in the 80's, and just recently got back into watching it the last 6 or 7 years.I know Jones beat both Bernard Hopkins and James Toney some years ago by decisions. I have only seen one clip of Jones knocking down Toney, and nothing of Jones-Hopkins. Can anyone give me an ubias opinion of how the fights played out. Were they one-sided, competetive or what? Also, what were the excuses each beaten fighter used (i'm assuming, like all fighters, they had excuses). I would appreciate any synopsis one may have.

TONEY WAS EMBARRASSED AND FRUSTRATED AND JONES
    TOOK AN EASY DECISION.

HOPKINS GAVE A BETTER TEST BUT WASNT TECHNICALLY GOOD ENOUGH TO BEAT JONES SPEED AND POWER.

BOTH FIGHTS WOULD BE VERY DIFFERENT IF THEY FOUGHT TODAY.
I SEE JONES MAYBE BEATING HOPKINS BUT NO CHANCE AGAINST
    TWO TON TONEY

James Toney vs. Roy Jones Jr. was one-sided, the only excuse I heard was from Toney fans saying he got frustrated and out of his game-plan.
Bernard Hopkins vs. Roy Jones Jr. was more of a boxing match, no knock downs took place, and Roy Jones Jr. won 8-4 (as far as rounds go)..It was kind of a one-sided, because Roy Jones was beating him with one hand, and he was so flashy in that fight (switching from orthodox to southpaw, running and punching, etc.) Hopkins did have some dumb excuse what I read, something about taking his mind off the fight midway through...but for a long time he wanted Roy Jones Jr. to fight him again, but I don't think that's the case anymore. Intresting note: He predicted Glencoffe Johnson would beat Roy Jones.

WELL THAT WASNT HARD...HE GETS KOED BY ONE PUNCH
THEN FIGHTS A PRESSURE FIGHTER WHO ADMITTEDLY DOESNT
HAVE HUGE KO POWER BUT WHO WILL DISCOURAGE HIM FROM
THINKING HE CAN WIN WITH THE SUSTAINED PRESSURE.

this so called "injury" jones said he had vs hopkins was bull****. the whole fight he used both hands and threw them hard for 12 . the reason he said he was injured because he looked unimpressive vs hopkins, neither fighter did anything really.

When RJJ fought Hops, they were both afraid of each other, Roy looked scared, and Hops was too but he hid it well ( i'd be scared going up against prime RJJ - i was a middlweight then, too ). Toney was frustrated, dehydrated - he had to lose 47 lbs, yes, i said 47 LBS in six weeks to make weight. he got down to 167 at weigh in, the next day he was 186. Both Toney and BHOp couldn't deal with Jones speed, a prime RJJ's speed is too much for anyone

Tony looked bad in the fight due to mainly weight drain. Tony wanted to fight at 175lbs, but Roy wouldn't have it. At the time Tony was flip-flopping between 168 and 175lbs. He knew he could no longer make the 168lbs limit without seriously hurting his performance. He took the fight because it was the biggest payday going at the time for him. If you watch the fight, I thinks its on the site, it is not a good performance by Tony at all. He looked tired and slow. Things may have been different if they fought at 175lbs, but we'll never know.

It was a good example of how Roy's management would try to put him at some sort of advantage in his fights. Roy was already talking about moving up to 175lbs well before the Tony fight, but they wouldn't allow it before he fought Tony at 168lbs. They knew Tony was killing himself to make weight. He ended up taking 3 more fights at 168lbs but against less than stellar opposition and an old Vinnie Paz. When he finally moved up to 175lbs Tony's career was spiraling downward. A Rematch was never really in the cards because Tony looked bad and seemed to be done.

You can blame the Jones camp to a certain extent, but Toney got what he got...

toney-jones- jones was at his best. he threw some 7 punch combos lightning quick it was a blowout jones won atleast 10 rounds

hopkins-jones- boring boxing match. not very close, roy jones did a better job than did hopkins.
