By Cliff Rold - In some fan and pundit circles, there can sometimes be a sort of reverence for the so-called original eight weight classes. The fog of nostalgia and the distance of time can present as a simpler and yet more competitive time where there was but one world champion in eight distinct classes.

I remember week after week reading people moaning about how they couldnt wait to see the back of Golovkin, that the middleweight division was boring during hes reign and someone like Charlo or Canelo would bring exciting fights. But now it looks like boring is just the state of the game, none of the good younger guys can seem to get together for a fight.Canelo Saunders is the closest weve come so far.

None of Andrade, Charlo or Golovkin are close to a Canelo shot. They're all at 160 and need to go to 168 and beat someone like Benevidez if they want that fight. Despite the noise, none of them seem to really want that fight or to fight each other.

They need to fight each other and that is the end of story. The problem is that when you have a superstar within the weight it simply freezes everyone waiting for that phone call.

I think the biggest fight for Canelo is Benavidez but he never gets mentioned as a potential opponent. After/if Canelo unifies I'll be disappointed if he dont try Benavidez.

Andrade vs Charlo is the only fight to be made right now at 160. It would be a great matchup. The winner would be the best middleweight in the world. And it would be a fitting end to a division that has dragged it's feet through the mud.

Yes, that's why, whilst canelo is trying to unify, one of those three needs to go to 168 and beat Benevidez. Then they might be next in line.

Avoiding each other whilst fighting low profile opposition isn't good enough.

Then again, it got Saunders his golden ticket but he was fortunate enough to have captured a title at 168.

              Thanks.

I agree completely.... Charlo, Andarde and GGG should move up and try their luck at 168 if the end game is Canelo. Right now Benavidez is stuck and it's his own damn fault but I still say him and Canelo is the fight to be made.

Unless one of those three go up to 168 and beat him.

In terms of promotional affiliation, it appears Charlo should have the inside track on that fight but he doesn't seem to want the work.

Is there a good reason why Andrade and Golovkin haven't/won't fight each other? Both with dazn.

I cant wrap my mind around why Charlo dont want the Benavidez fight or why Andrade and GGG haven't already met in the ring. My only guess is their waiting on the lottery ticket and that leaves the fans out of luck really
