Comments Thread For: Carlos Ocampo Drops Matute Three Times For Knockout in Two

Junior middleweight contender Carlos "Chema" Ocampo showed that he's very serious about his desire to land a world championship. Ocampo (29-1, 19 KO's) attacked the body of his rival in a savage way. With both hands, with power punch combinations on both sides. Ivan Matute's liver, ribs, abdomen and the pit of his stomach took punishment. Matute (30-4, 25 KO's) was being battered and the Venezuelan contender went to the canvas three times in the second round.

FFS - the guy keeps destroying everyone except the ONE guy that destroyed him.

At some point, NSB needs to give him his credit. Matute was not a soft touch. Old (shopworn, not birth), but not a soft touch.

I'm starting to believe Ocampo might have been one of Spence's best wins at this point.

Here's the whole event - actually some good fights. Main event starts at 44:10

Wtf this dude is such a beast, but froze in the biggest stage and barely threw a punch Vs. Spence.

Head problems. Speed, brawn, and noodle. Two out of three won't cut it. He went at Spence like a wounded rabbit.

You're crazy. He threw on Spence plenty. Spence just went to war though.

Because Spence throws back and hits harder. You hesitate when the guy you fight is faster and hits harder.

And Ocampo was throwing for the first two minutes, until he felt that body shot. Then he was vulnerable.

I recall Ocampo actually landing a good shot or two on Spence but Spence turned up on him and got him out of there.

People's memories are foggy. What you describe is what happened. Ocampo was just out-bodied.
