Oh yeah that's what I'm talking about

How often do you hear champs calling out other champs wanting to unify? Not very.

That trumps any mandatory IMO. That can come after unifications.

Where has this lineal talk come from?
The winner of Valdez-Herring would not be the lineal champion at 130

Lineage isn't a black and white thing, and depends on consensus... but virtually nowhere other than Boxrec has Valdez/Herring as 1 and 2. Boxrec, is well... Boxrec, good for records, not for authoritative rankings

The RING (is not the lineal title, but rankings are somewhat authoritative) has Davis at no.1 and Valdez no.2
TBRB has Valdez as 1, Davis as 2
ESPN has Valdez as 1, Davis as 2
BN24 has Valdez as 1, Davis as 2

Davis' last fight was at 130 also. If he fights at 135 next, it wouldn't affect his rankings at 130 unless he unilaterally declares he's moving up

No disrespect meant to Herring, but I think he's wrong here

He's saying a win over Valdez would help him get there. Not that it would make him lineal.

well here’s the full quote regarding the Valdez fight:

“Most people know I had plans to move up (to lightweight) at least. But, if that fight’s available, we can make that happen especially if we can make that lineal title available. Let’s get that title on the line and go from there.”
