Unification fights should normally have a higher priority than mandatory defenses but not if the mandatory has been waiting for so long for his title shot! keeping Stevenson on the sidelines for another year until Herring and Valdez fight is totally unfair for Stevenson.
Stevenson wouldn't be on the side-lines though???? He'd be fighting for the vacant WBO title because Herring would have to drop the title should he get the fight with Valdez.
