By the way, I appreciate everyone on here who shows love, because once in awhile you’ll get idiots on here who’ll twist your words and say nonsense that you’re scared. How many top fighters actually take time to even interact with everyone? I do it out of the love of the sport and good people, but I also understand why athletes don’t communicate, because of nonsense. I guess winning another world title from a legitimate opponent, means I’m scared of everyone else though.

Ppl critisizing and complaining because you're taking the easy routes, at this point of your career you still have 5'5 122 and 126 pounder, old and shot Frampton as your best win, and now you're looking for another 5'5 career featherweight to fight, step it up and do your mando fighting Shakur, you'll get more praise

Unification fights should normally have a higher priority than mandatory defenses but not if the mandatory has been waiting for so long for his title shot! keeping Stevenson on the sidelines for another year until Herring and Valdez fight is totally unfair for Stevenson.

The only reason I’d stick around for Valdez is because it would give me the chance of becoming a 2X champion, and possibly fight for the lineal title. What’s funny is people act as if choosing Valdez is a EASY fight. Oscar Valdez isn’t a slouch! He’s also tough! I just see that the that fight would do mor for my own legacy, and they’ve been interested to fight me, with or without the WBO title.
No worries, good luck. I don’t think the WBO would allow you to fight Valdez with the belt on the line. Since they allowed the Carl fight to happen.

Moving up might be a great idea and get you a shot as the mandatory (If Oscar doesn’t want to do the fight if you drop your belt).

With or without the belt I do hope you can do the Oscar fight, not only because of your legacy but fighting style wise I see that as a better fight, than a Shakur fight.

I totally agree, but as said above Herring has set his mind up in different ways. I know he is on here and interacting with us, appreciate that. But at the same time we have to be honest, it would definitely be unfair to Shakur. So maybe moving up as said, or if Oscar does that fight without the belt.

Ignore those dumb posters. You have some calling top 10 boxers from their weight class bums. You are at a stage that of your career where you need to pick the right fights, for money and legacy before bowing out, and I don’t blame you one bit.

Yea man I understand where Herring is coming from at this stage of his career. But I agree either fighting Stevenson or moving up to make way for Stevenson and the number 2 guy would be the right thing to do and that's what the WBO should enforce. Plenty of big paydays at 135 too only if top rank would let him fight non-top rank fighters.

If only they could have triple threat matches in boxing!

Anyone complaining about herring fighting the top guy in the division is ridiculous. And yes, Valdez is the top guy.

That said, it is too bad a fight against take isn’t makable. I think an easier win than Valdez or Shakur.

I had no idea boxers even came on this forum. I understand why you guys wouldn't. I never seen you fight until Frampton. You gained a fan! Respect to whatever choices you make in your career.

As I said after the Frampton fight, hopefully the WBO makes Stevenson/Nakathila for the Interim belt and allows Jamel to unify with Valdez. That's a great fight, with both guys coming off the biggest wins of their careers. If the WBO won't bend on the mandatory, then I'd be cool seeing Jamel go back to 135 and challenge for big fights there
