Not sure about the significance of this fight (other than if Pac wins), but it should be an entertaining fightent anyway.

Beating Porter IN HIS PRIME, that lost to the #1 WW in the game, only by split decision, is much more meaningful! Also, keep in mind, that Pacquiao has not fought since July 2019! Bud has to dominate, and even then, he will only be doing what is expected of him!
Porter is not ready or willing. Ready and willing is actually making steps to make a fight. Saying I want the fight then asking for money that even your own promoter isn’t willing to give you doesn’t scream “Willing and ready” - And a title doesn’t define a fight, not especially someone like Pacman. Beating Pac would do everything for his career at 147, it would make him the man, more money and legacy.

It’s not a unification match anymore, but Terence Crawford vs. Manny Pacquiao remains in play. The Athletic reports that “Top Rank has informed its network partner, ESPN, and pay-per-view distributor In Demand to hold June 5 for the potential fight,” which is “contingent” on it taking place in Abu Dhabi.

Bob Arum recently claimed he’d “be announcing a major PPV fight for Terence Crawford this week,” so that tracks but also seems a bit premature. According to Mike Coppinger, there’s “no agreement for the fight at this time.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Top Rank tried to pit “Bud” (37-0, 28 KO) against “Pac-Man” (62-7-2, 29 KO); they were “in serious talks” to stage the bout in Bahrain last year, but nothing ever came of that. Pacquiao, who hasn’t fought since a July 2019 decision over Keith Thurman and was recently named champion in recess due to inactivity, stated in January that he’d face Crawford for $40 million and had been linked to a fight with Mikey Garcia.

No telling whether Top Rank met his asking price.

As Coppinger points out, Pacquiao could be the marquee opponent Crawford so desperately needs. For all his obvious talent, the Nebraskan’s best wins came over a blown-up Yuriorkis Gamboa, Viktor Postol, Jeff Horn, and Egidijus Kavaliauskas. A world-renowned fighter like Pacquiao, faded though he may be, would immediately stand out on his resume.

At the same time, they’d be striking while the iron is bone-cold; Pacquiao’s age and the enormous physical disparities between the two made this a hard sell even at the best of times, and slapping a two-year layoff on top of that makes it difficult to imagine the Filipino legend having any shot at turning back the clock. It’d still sell, sure, but only the most devoted of contrarians would consider it any sort of truly even matchup.

Still, it’s better than Crawford and Errol Spence futilely sniping at each other for another year, so I suppose we should take what we can get.

If Spence, Danny Garcia, Thurman or Porter had been willing to fught Crawford or even willing to sit down then we wouldn’t be where we are now. Again a title doesn’t mean s***** when the name on your resume is Pac. Who is a special talent..

Anyhow, hope Crawford gets Pac or Porter. Looking forward to either fight and obviously beating Pac especially if its in dominant fashion does more for Crawford marketability and legacy than Porter. Nonetheless both fights could be fun...we'll see !
Anyone that thinks Crawford is the one ducking those PBC boxers don’t either follow boxing or they basically hate Crawford. Let’s go through the timeline and see who has been frozen out with excuses for 3 going on 4 years now. They have never been willing to even sit down with Crawford, it’s sickening the way they tried freeze him out with excuses after excuses, up to the point where Crawford is like fuck you even at 50/50 have moved on.

This is why Crawford has been fighting any available alternatives since getting the belt that they asked him to go and get. If he gets Pac man it would be great for boxing, because he would be the man at 147, not that I expect the PBC guys to still want to fight him.... No they still wouldn’t fight him, there is no pressure on them to fight him, when some idiotic fans think “Crawford hasn’t fought anybody”.

Crawford and Spence should stop begging old Pac for pay day.

They have Thurman, Ortiz jr, Ugas, Porter, Danny.

Spence already fought 2 of them, Crawford fought nobody.

Pac can do whatever he wants, he can fight Ryan in 10-rounder.

Well, I guess you are one of "the most devoted of contrarians." Anyway, Bob Arum said if no Pacquiao, he will resume talks with Shawn Porter! Obviously he know that his first offer was a low ball, and he has to get Crawford a big fight, BEFORE HE LOSES HIM IN OCTOBER!

Ain’t no schooling. Crawford will win by bullying Pacquiao, but he won’t give him a boxing lesson. Crawford has too much holes in his defense. I’d even go out on a limb and say he might get his ass dropped against a completely faded past prime Pacquiao.

If this fight happens, Pacquiao wins a decision.

I couldn’t care less if Bob loses him in October, am for the boxers and fights. I hope he gets Pac, I doubt he does but you can only hope. As no PBC fighter would fight him. Porter doesn’t want the fight, as if he wants it he can get Al to do the fight. Or he can get the WBO to mandate him and go to purse bid. That’s how you “Willing and ready” actions speaks louder than words.

If he fights as a mandatory, he makes less money.

Terence Crawford next fight: Manny Pacquiao, Shawn Porter both in the mix according to Bob Arum

Arum on Porter really wanting the Crawford fight

Shawn’s father, Kenny, came to see us. He’s a lovely man and highly intelligent, and we’ve had preliminary discussions and let’s see if it can happen. And there’s also Manny Pacquiao who has said that he wants to fight Terence Crawford. Let’s see if that can happen. But as far as Crawford is concerned, he’s in a good position...”

That's how you know Porter wants the fight! Of course he's not going to accept $1 Million dollars, especially when both Brook and Khan got way more than that!
