If Crawford can land that Pacman fight then boxing would be better off for it, because this mentality of "Freezing" someone out in america is disgusting. Imagine Eddie Hearn trying to pull that move, someone like Shield can be avoided and ducked by Marshall but you would never hear a british fan make excuses why she shouldn't be fighting Shield. If Bud can become the man at 147 with that fight then maybe (I still doubt it) PBC would finally want to sit down for negotiations, but i really don't fault Bud if he gives them all a middle finger.
Manny Pacquiao vs Terence Crawford in talks for June 5 in Abu Dhabi

It’s not a unification match anymore, but Terence Crawford vs. Manny Pacquiao remains in play. The Athletic reports that “Top Rank has informed its network partner, ESPN, and pay-per-view distributor In Demand to hold June 5 for the potential fight,” which is “contingent” on it taking place in Abu Dhabi.

Bob Arum recently claimed he’d “be announcing a major PPV fight for Terence Crawford this week,” so that tracks but also seems a bit premature. According to Mike Coppinger, there’s “no agreement for the fight at this time.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Top Rank tried to pit “Bud” (37-0, 28 KO) against “Pac-Man” (62-7-2, 29 KO); they were “in serious talks” to stage the bout in Bahrain last year, but nothing ever came of that. Pacquiao, who hasn’t fought since a July 2019 decision over Keith Thurman and was recently named champion in recess due to inactivity, stated in January that he’d face Crawford for $40 million and had been linked to a fight with Mikey Garcia.

No telling whether Top Rank met his asking price.

As Coppinger points out, Pacquiao could be the marquee opponent Crawford so desperately needs. For all his obvious talent, the Nebraskan’s best wins came over a blown-up Yuriorkis Gamboa, Viktor Postol, Jeff Horn, and Egidijus Kavaliauskas. A world-renowned fighter like Pacquiao, faded though he may be, would immediately stand out on his resume.

At the same time, they’d be striking while the iron is bone-cold; Pacquiao’s age and the enormous physical disparities between the two made this a hard sell even at the best of times, and slapping a two-year layoff on top of that makes it difficult to imagine the Filipino legend having any shot at turning back the clock. It’d still sell, sure, but only the most devoted of contrarians would consider it any sort of truly even matchup.

Still, it’s better than Crawford and Errol Spence futilely sniping at each other for another year, so I suppose we should take what we can get.

Kind of stunning how so many fans are split nowadays. Its literally like the political divide in America or maybe the world. Some people think Crawford has been ducked for years while others think he's ducking and both sides are assured in their beliefs.

Anyhow, hope Crawford gets Pac or Porter. Looking forward to either fight and obviously beating Pac especially if its in dominant fashion does more for Crawford marketability and legacy than Porter. Nonetheless both fights could be fun...we'll see !

You're confusing. In one sentence you say Crawford has only beat C or B competition but then you suggest Pacquiao has no shot at winning. So is Crawford better than youre letting on or is Manny too old ?

And this fight is HUGE for Manny. If Manny wins this fight there will be legitimate claims for him to be labelled GOAT. Not saying I'd agree but to beat Thurman and Crawford, undefeated WWs, back to back at 42 with years layoff in between when Thurman was Top 10 PFP and Top 3 WW and Crawford #1 PFP and #1 WW for years now...a very real claim can be made for GOAT when you consider the rest of his career.

For Crawford this is pivotal because he can do what Gennadyovich didnt...Beat his far more popular foe decisively...which bolsters his legacy and helps make a ton more money before hanging them up.

Would be very surprising. And that would allow Manny to make real case for GOAT.

I think the opposite will happen, actually

I wish this fight wouldve happened 5 years ago when Crawford first was seeking it. I dont know why Pacquiao's handlers are ok with it now but weren't back then.

That quote is from an article, not my words. That being said, I agree with the author. This does nothing for Terence Crawford. besides make him a lot of money! If he wins, it's what he's supposed to do, if he loses, then his entire time a 147 was a fraud! You can't lose to a 42-yr old man, who hasn't been in the ring in 2 years! Beating Porter would make a better statement, especially if he beats him better than Spence did! I do agree that Manny beating Crawford would be LEGENDARY! 42 years old, and a 2-year layoff, and you beat the #2 P4P boxer in the world? That would be huge!

true about beating Pacquiao but let's not get the Porter situation twisted. Forcing has nothing to do with it. Porter is a former two time world champion and no way in hell will he fight Duckford for peanuts.
