This is a risky fight, but great for the fans. He should have taken the Haney fight as the mandatory but it’s obvious they didn’t think he was ready for that one.

But hey I cannot criticise him for fighting Fortuna, as this is the sort of level he needs in reality. If he wins this one then I expect his team to get his one more easy fight before they think about him and Haney.

The issue isnt him taking his time.... the issue is him talking about not needing titles and just wants the bigger fights, tank n pacs name kept coming up, if he was ready and willin to fight them, and they wernt available then im sure a 21 year old haney would be the next best option, yet says all that, avoids taking his mandatory and opts for another wbc interim. His words dont match his actions. Had he not called out and spoke all that nonsense then a fight with fortuna who no doubt IS a solid step up wouldnt be received with such negetivity.

This is a dam good fight on paper because Fortuna will come to bring it, he’s a bit sloppy and reckless at times but is a tuff SOB! If Ryan not better than his last fight he could lose this one, and should at least be tested in several ways during this contest. Looking forward to this one. Oscar may end up Ballarina shoes after this!

It's obvious Porky doesn't want it. He prefers smaller men or has beens. This is the 2nd fight Ryan is taking that is far better than anybody Porky has fought. He's too busy getting arrested. It's a shame because he can certainly beat Ryan, seems to have self doubt though.

Tank is a moron outside of the ring but he was the one ready to fight Ryan and Ryan was the one who admittedly backed out because he said he couldn’t pass of the chance to fight Pac. Turns out he never had a deal to fight pac, so he straight up lied while ducking Tank in the process. And you think Fortuna is better than Santa Cruz and Pedraza? Ok

Ryan had a straight shot at the WBC LW title! He decided to swerve Haney, and call out Tank! Then he decides to swerve Tank to fight Pacquiao! Then he can't get the fight with Pacquiao, and I'm sure his team had something to do with that! So now he's ordered to fight Fortuna, and he accepts! The DUCK here is Ryan Garcia! He had a shot at the title, and he had a shot at Tank, with Al Haymon's blessing, and winds up fighting Javier Fortuna! SAD! Good fight, but SAD!

Clesrly ducked his mandatory shot vs Haney, when hearn and Haney were very vocal ready and willing to make the fight soon as Ry stopped cambell... got no interest with the whole "i got bigger fish to fry"... only to land Fortuna who is decent and will put up a challenge but again should ry prevail, will he actually take his mandatory st the back end of this year??? Ry fighting once ev 6 months isnt ideal for him id say.

Outside of the 5 kings at lightweight Fortuna is one of the best.
