I remember his balance was off during the 1st fight - like he gets hit and is stunned to the point his legs are momentarily not there anymore.

I'm not sure about the Covid angle but that wouldn't help because if he was on his back in hospital hfor a few days he'd lose muscle.

More likely he has brain trauma - I mean he has been getting hit by heavyweights for a really long time. I hope I'm wrong because he seems to be an intelligent and likeable person.

Since the boxing orgs have gone bat-****t crazy about belts and weight classes, they are probably missing another revenue stream here (I can't believe I'm saying this but anyway). Yeah, that's it, a new division...Geezerweight! Don't care how much they weigh or their age...just what seems like a cool fight. What the heck, maybe this is what boxing needs. Mostly for the old guys egos though. 20oz gloves maybe?? Povetlin is now eligible. Nice try, Dude.
Lol - How about Shot vs Legend class? Mike Tyson vs Povetkin. Lennox Lewis vs David Price. Holyfield vs Ortiz.

Really he did not look all that great in W/P 1 just that he got a heavyweight punch in the right time after being knocked around the ring prior to that. But the rematch happened, with an aging HW and a younger, lower tier HW with a promoter that made sure the fight sounded better then it turned out to be. Result Whyte earns another payday Pov will fade unless he is needed again down the line. The first fight created the interest in the second fight which shone a light on what and who the two fighters really are.

He should have retired when he beat Whyte. Now he needs a win. I don't think Pov should go out on a loss. Fight a bum in Russia or some ****.

He's had a long and highlight worthy career, at 42 and after this Covid battle, I think it is time to call it a day for Povetkin. I will always consider him to be one of the best heavies to never win a title. His career stretched 3 generations catching the tail-end of the 90s era fighters such as Larry Donald, all of the Klitchsko era, and now the triumvirate(Fury/Wilder/Joshua) era. He was a top-10 guy the entire time and beat a plethora of other contenders. I wish him the best!

As I've said on another thread, a big problem for Povetkin is that he doesn't have a real trainer. Nesterov is just a yes man from his entourage who somehow landed a sweet job. And one of the benefits of having a good and experienced trainer is that he will tell you when it's time to hang up the gloves. I hope Ryabinskiy really means what he said and that he has enough influence over Povetkin to persuade him that it's been enough.

So now Povetkin was at a disadvantage due to the weight? Haha.

                Classic.

They have the same height and bone structure, so Povetkin can come in at that weight if he wishes. But still funny to read this. Maybe Whyte has slightly bigger ears and had another advantage?
