To think Loma vs Lopez was on free TV, pitching this as a PPV is just wild.

After Ruiz's performance against Joshua in the rematch and layoff, against Wilder I couldn't understand PPV, even then I can't remember a PPV with both fighters coming off loses.

If its $75 for this, thats not far off a year dazn subscription, this is crazy.

Would love to know the thought process behind this, like is Ruiz asking too much and PBC offered to do it as a PPV with no minimum. This is like a get well fight to put him in a position for a decent fight, like Wilder or Whyte.

Whats the worse PPV numbers wise of late, have to imagine this will be close.

Well since there was virtually no money spent on promotion, if that fight sells 50k, that's 3.7 million generated out of which maybe 90% goes to the fighters. The undercard guys can share 1 mil and the rest will go to Ruiz and Arreola which wouldn't be bad for that caliber of fight. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't even sell half of that.

Since when has 90% of a PPV ever gone to the fighters though? The standard breakdown was 10% to distributor, 45% to cable operator, 45% to promoter, perhaps this has changed a bit, but consider the maths at that breakdown.

$3.7M total, of which $1.66M is going to the promoter, they want their cut, say 20%, so now we're at $1.3M for all fighters, including undercard.

Headliners guarantees or not, a 50K PPV will loose a ton of money IMO.

Can't imagine Ruiz taking such a deal and I can't imagine him giving TGB promotions, a relatively unknown promotion, such a huge cut. The network will take at least 10% I think, so yea maybe the fighters will walk away with 80% or even 70%, which is somewhere between 2.8-3.1 mil. and I think some fans will be allowed in so the gate can help them reach that revenue too. Still not a bad deal for such a bad card, question is can it really sell 50k? will there be any fans buying tickets? I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't even generate half of what I'm speculating here and then it's a total loss for everyone.

            the network will take 10%??

They take far more than that. It wouldn’t be worth their while for all the production costs etc. To only take 10%

I don’t think you understand how many people and how much work goes into a live broadcast.
