    Where is Schafer the snake?

I hear a lot of talk about GBP having been built by Schaefer. My question is, where is this successful builder of boxing promotional companies now?

Seems like Haymon cut him off at some point. Several of his boxers left him, like Tony Yoka, Joe Joyce, Ajagba, Adolfo, a few others. For a brief moment he had a really nice stable.

Completely out of the boxing business.

Meanwhile De La Hoya has slowly reloaded after getting most of his fighters stolen. And has managed to guide the careers of Vergil Ortiz and Ryan Garcia to the point where they are on the cusp of stardom.

Schaeffer is such a weird guy. Remember when he was in the ring after Spence jr beat Mikey Garcia, telling him
          "YOU ARE DEH TROOF"

why was he doing that? he thinks being a promoter is about getting in the ring post-fight and gassing fighters in front of all the cameras. weird guy.

Where has Slick Ric gone though man? The guy was arguably the brains behind Haymon/SHOWTIMES absolute monster 2013 and it's not been the same since in terms of consistent sick cards

Story as old as time. Big boss goes away for a couple years, expecting everything to be just as he left it when he gets out. But when he does come home, everything has changed; his old crew was absorbed into other families, heads of other gangs he had understandings with are long gone, people on the street who used to fear him don't even remember his face. He is no one to anyone, because while he was gone the world kept on turning and everything changed.

It's exactly what happened to Schaefer. Haymon hired some cheap promoters (DiBella and Brown) to be the face of PBC and had no need for a partner. HBO and Showtime were the only shows in town when Richard left GBP, but when he came back, HBO was on their way out of the game and Showtime had an exclusive with PBC. Networks he had no relationship with were now the majors players, and they all had exclusive content deals buttoned up.

So Ringstar failed because he had no relationships in the industry and nothing to offer any American networks as an upstart promotion looking to host a freaking cruiserweight tournament.

Last I heard he was working as a scout for PBC, bringing Haymon fighters for a small cut, but that was a while back.
