Good Lord forgive anyone for having only a "great" night as opposed to a "dominate" night, because that means he would lose all kinds of other hypothetical matches that did not happen. Which, by the way, those guys in their prime could very well beat Beterbiev. Their skill sets line up nicely to giving him fits. But Beterbiev truly motivated and focused could easily dominate either one. This is not the 175 pound version of Wilder, unable to box and completely dependent on his power. He is solid in counterpunching, has decent movement, and makes up for only fair defense by being made of completely chiseled stone. Not overrated. Not perfect and beatable by a great boxer, sure. Getting older and maybe a hair slower than 2 years ago, yep. But this dude is a beast and should be the favorite in any match-up until someone actually beats him.
    Great post bro.

    • It's funny how quick the trendy boxing fans are quick to condemn a fighter for one mediocre performance. It went from "Beterbiev is a beast who is clearly the best light heavyweight in the world!" to "Beterbiev is overrated, average, easy to hit and will be beat by the other top light heavyweights" after one fight! The guy was off a long time and is coming off a rib injury and covid-19. Virtually every great fighter has had poor performances, especially after ailments like Beterbiev had to deal with. Joshua has looked bad, Fury has looked bad, Charlos have looked bad, Chocolatito has looked bad. I could go on and on. That doesn't mean they are overrated or easily beatable. Nobody is perfect and Beterbiev got the job done. He probably overlooked Deines as well. Let's see how he looks in his next fight against a higher ranked opponent.

Unless Beterbiev coasted and carried him to get some rounds in after 17 months off, a rib injury and getting COVID19.

Also, it's not like it was a close fight. Every round was Beterbiev walking him down and hitting him hard to the body, and he scored two knockdowns.

          • Excellent win for Beterbiev!

            • So what? Bivol didn't have an easy time with Joe Smith either.
The point is he fought him and won.

I don't see Beterbiev fighting dangerous fighters like Smith, Barrera, Pascal, Chilemba.
Truth is, Beterbiev fought only Gvozdyk. The rest were bums.

Richards? Probably no better or worse than Deines.
Yes. Same objective as for Beterbiev, to shake off the ring rust.

Let's see how Bivol fairs after also 1,5 year of inactivity against "average" Richards on May 1st...

I still think that Beterbiev will beat him "a-la-Gvodzyk " ... Trading rounds before beating him into submission ...
