Both are solid, neither are killers. Beterbiev has some skill, but he is kind of one dimensional. Haven't watched much Smith, but what I've seen is OK. Good fight to make though, would like to see it.

and Joe smith got hurt by Bivol in the 12th who have solid power but hes not in elite class. he never faced a big puncher in his whole carreer and ppl think he has granite chin.

only chance smith has is the lucky punch johnson did otherwise he get destroyed easily his chin NEVER got tested by strong power beside bivol. Meanwhiles beterbiev destroyed Cloud, johnson prieto and Gvozdyk who ALL hit as hard or harder than bivol

Actually, Smith is the one who is one dimensional. I like both guys, tough as nail, but Smith is in for a rude awakening if he thinks Beterbiev has no skills. I think he will be surprised at just how tough and gutsy the Russian is.

Joe Smith would box Beterbeivs ears off. Too slick.

Smith? Cmon, I love Joe Smith, but he looked like a complete amateur against Bivol. The total punch stats were 208-39, that's crazy. He only landed 39 punches in 12 rounds. Levels to this, and Bivol and Beterbiev are the two best. Maybe Smith can catch him with one of his famous missiles though.

Smith Jr, like everybody else, won't be able to suffer the pain and the pressure... Ask Gvozdyk about it...

Honest question: Do you rate Smith Jr higher than Gvozdyk ? And If so, how ?

My take is Gvozdyk would have embarrassed him the same way Bivol did...

It would be an epic slugfest until the bitter end. Nothing else should be said. Both have bone breaking power

I think Boxfan acknowledges where the advantages lay. Beterbiev hasn't had much ring time like some others haven't, which is why they lost recently.

I'm interested to see how many rounds Beterbiev gets in against this German opponent. if it's about 7 rounds, then he should proceed to the Smith fight. If not, then he should have a quick turnaround and schedule another fight within 2 months to get those rounds, then go after Smith after he's eliminated the ring rust and the advantages Smith would otherwise have.

If Beterbiev is on song, he hurts Smith very badly. If he isn't, then anything can happen. But it wouldn't be a true representation of Beterbiev if he isn't on song.
