Why can't some fighters that lose these days just accept that their opponent is the better man?

These past few years have been a real eye opener. Lots of whining and excuses when one loses, but how come some can't accept their opponent just being the better man and having their number?

I don't ever recall Mosley making excuses when he lost both fights to Forrest by UD. He just accepted that he was the better man after they fought the second time.

You can be the greatest fighter in the entire world, but someone out there will always have your number.

I think Oleksander Gvozdyk took his loss to Beterbiev well. Joe Smith Jr. didn't make any excuses that I can remember for his loss to Bivol. You're right, though, we've seen a lot of high profile whining in recent years.

There have always been good losers & bad losers. Granted the Wilder excuses are probably the wonkiest in the time I've watched boxing, but Loma surprised me by being a bad loser soon after. I think boxing is such a individual sport with conclusive ending potential that you gotta be a lil delusional to compete & that can be a bad look when you lose if you share those delusionals a lil too freely that I feel are probably more for the fighter's own ego than he's trying to sell it to the public.

I blame US the Fans! I've seen Fighters literally take the excuses of their fans from Social Media and Youtube RUN with the Excuse they hear their Groupie Boy Fans make for them Like Deontay Wilder! I love boxing but I can't stand today's fans at all some of you are way too emotionally attached like how some emotional teenage girls are to Justin Beiber or whatever Pop Star today that they scream over now

It is just boxing at the end of the day, it is suppose to be for entertainment but the entertainment has been taken complete out of it because of all the Bias and Agenda Driven GARBAGE! Berchelt lost to Valdez, I look forward to seeing him at 135 to start a new chapter in his career. Even with Wilder as annoying as he and his Groupies (not his True fans but the Groupie Boys) with all these Excuses, I look forward to seeing him back I don't give a sh^t if it is vs Bogdan Dinu, the Heavyweight Division is not a Deep Division at all so they need him to get his stuff together. Him vs AJ, Fury again, Ruiz, Whyte, Martin, Uysk would all still make a lot of damn money. Just STFU with the excuses and get back to work!

Don't be so fast to blame US fans. This has been going on for a long time with a bunch of boxers from various countries. Vlad lost to Lewis, every time Chavez Sr lost, every time Khan lost, Pac loss to Floyd, etc. A bunch of excuses come out and the fan boys support it. Hopikins was another cry baby every time he lost.

Deontay Wilder was still standing, and willing the fight 'Even in Tyson Fury's culture, you don't stop a fight when the opponent wants to continue'.

There are two things happening during a boxing match, a boxing match and a fight.

Exactly. Excuses work. Creating controversy or a sliver of doubt sells. Everyone’s in the best shape of their life to promote a fight but when they lose they have a bunch of excuse on hand why they weren’t at their best. The fighters that admit to having no excuses and call their opponent the better man on the night get tossed away. They are good sportsman and honest, but they are also admitting to losing fair and square which shuffles them further down the deck. Fighters get rewarded for coming up with clever excuses. It gets written in the media. It gets clicks. Those that like the fighter want to see them get a second chance to be proven right. Those that dislike the fighter want to see them get proven wrong again. It’s drama. At some point we will see a fight result get overturned after someone digs up a fifteen year old post a referee made.

If "wokeness" should stay out of any arena it should be boxing.

It's the one place like other combat sports where there is no team to rely on, it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, what you went through in life. It's just you vs him and whoever's has the skill will and greater ability to execute a gameplan to their strengths wins.

So all boxing matches over the last 100+ years are null and void because they don't follow Irish Traveler rules of combat?

Regardless of whether a boxer is "standing", "willing", or "wanting", the referee reserves the right to stop the fight at their own discretion.

I'm not trying to be rude but do Deontay Wilder fans actually know the rules of boxing?
