Comments Thread For: Juan Francisco Estrada Decisions Chocolatito Gonzalez in Classic War To Unify

By Keith Idec - Even Juan Francisco Estrada seemed surprised to hear Michael Buffer announce that he had won yet another rematch Saturday night. Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez seemingly out-worked Estrada in their terrific fight, but two judges scored their 12-round, 115-pound championship match for Estrada. Judge Jesse Reyes credited Gonzalez with a 115-113 win, but he was overruled by judges Carlos Sucre (117-111) and David Sutherland (115-113).

Super flyweight world champions Juan Francisco Estrada and Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez went face to face at the official weigh-in ahead of their unification rematch at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday night, live worldwide on DAZN. (photos by Ed Mulholland)

Estrada and Chocolatito renew their rivalry over eight years since their first meeting in LA, with Chocolatito coming out on top and retaining his World Light-Flyweight title. The champion was on his way to being the pound-for-pound number one at the time of their first bout, while Estrada was in his first World title fight – and now they both hold belts going into the rematch.

There’s another case of repeat or revenge as Jessica McCaskill (9-2 3 KOs) defends the undisputed World Welterweight title against Cecilia Braekhus (36-1 9 KOs) and there’s a Matchroom debut on the card for Hiroto Kyoguchi (14-0 9 KOs) as he defends his WBA and Ring Magazine World Light-Flyweight titles against Axel Vega (14-3-1 8 KOs), and it's a huge night for a clutch of rising talents on the bill.

I was so, So, SO! pumped for this card and fight, but now I'm down a bit. Been watching old highlights of The Marvelous One for the last hour. Hopefully in honor of Marvin, Gallo and Choco bring us WAR

Alright, we are getting right to it here with the 2 undefeated prospects. 8-0 Ray Ford vs 10-0 Aaron Perez at 126

I really thought they would have gotten the curtain jerkers done around 5pm and the main card was starting at 8.

Good fight already. Rd 1 to Perez, Ford landing quick counters but Perez finding his way in and bringing lots of pressure. Nice stylistic matchup

Similar rd to the 1st, but Perez landed a bit less and I edged it to Ford. Both close rounds though, 1-1 for me
